All summer we play outdoor at handball club Westsite!
Yes, finally an outdoor location in Amsterdam, at handball club Westsite. Last year we started an experiment and Monday 1st of July permanent blue lines for 5 courts are drawn. From Thursday 4th of July we will play three days a week till the end of August. The surface is rough tarmac, a self service cafeteria (with toilet) present. This location is on the border of South and West Amsterdam. You are always welcome to drop by (with of without a partner) and play! Maybe have a drink and a grilled cheese sandwich afterwards!

Handball Club Westsite, Handbalstraat 740, 1062 XA Amsterdam
- When: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 16 hour till dark. NEW! On Tuesday there is also a morning session 10.30 – 13.00 o clock.
- Costs: € 5 for 2 hours (cash or by payment request). Do you stay longer? Then it is € 6,50 or one strip of your ticketstrip (revenues will be used to pay off the investment in the permanent lines).
- Gear: paddles, balls, nets are available. Bring your sunglasses or hat if the sun shines!
Directions
- By bike: Through Rembrandtpark, along Westlandgracht, Vlaardingenlaan (underneath highway A10), turn left at the roundabout into Overschiestraat, pass the building IDTV and turn right. You head now for the Handbalstraat and turn left.
- By car: Free parking on Sunday, other days till 19 o clock paid (€ 5 per hour)
- By public transport: Stop Henk Sneevlietweg (metro 50 and 51), and 10 minutes walk
Indoorseason 2024/2025: 1e week of September
The indoor season runs from 3 September 2024 till the end of June at different locations in Amsterdam. You can always drop by and try it. We hope to see you somewhere somehow! If you like it, you can decide whether you want to buy separate passes, a ticket strip or season pass (you can pay cash or by whatsapp-request). Our ticketstrips can be used at all our locations, also it is possible to buy a membership (season pass) per location. At the open plays you pay cash. (At the moment we are working on more timeslots and locations to play, the information below will be further updated in August 2024.)
At all our spots you can join with or without partner and it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or more experienced. Everybody plays with everybody, we change partners all the time. For people who take their first pickleball steps always a beginner clinic will be offered. Come and discover this fun new sport! (Note: bring clean sportshoes, no black soles.)

Sunday in sports hall De Pijp
Our most beautiful sports facility is located in de Pijp, recently renovated equipped with a nice new floor. Passing the desk, it is the hall on the right side. Since 2013 we play there on Sunday afternoon and we have 7 courts at our disposal. The group exists of 20 to 30 people, the level varies from 2.5 to 4.0, young (>12 years) and old are present. Besides locals we are very happy that also many international guests join us to celebrate being part of the worldwide pickleball community.
We change partners all the time, everybody plays with everybody. Paddles, nets and balls are provided.

Saturday in sports hall Het 4e Gymnasium
This modern built high school hosts on level three a very roomy gymnasium with nice floor and woodwork. There is a special sports entrance, just walk around the building and you will find it. We have three to six courts to play on. Everyone is welcome, but this location is especially interesting for beginners. More experienced players help you to understand the rules of the game. Paddles, balls and nets are provided. In May and June we can’t play due to exams.

Last year we started playing in this very local community school in the Kinkerbuurt. The entrance is next to a ping pong table on the corner of the street by the park. About 12-16 persons play for two hours at three courts maximum. All levels are present, everyone is welcome. We change partners all the time. Join us to check it out!

Tuesday open play in Wethouder Verheyhal (55+)
At this location there is a specific moment for 55+, organized by the county, part of an open play. In autumn and spring on Tuesday 16.30 – 17.30 hr will be played in Wethouder Verheijhal and in the winter on Wednesday at the same time in Dapperschool. Do you want to start exercising (again) and you like a racket sport? This is a good place to start. There are three pickleball courts to play on. Paddles, balls and nets are provided. About 12 persons join every week.

Do want to play during the day? That is possible in a very purple gym on the border of Amsterdam West and Nieuw-West. Public transport is nearby. There are 3 courts available, we change partners all the time. Paddles, nets and balls are provided. It is a pilot, but already quite a few people have found their way to this location. In 2024 we will continue from 11th of January, but play half an hour less (15.00 – 16.30 hr). Join us to check out this new location!

Thursday open play sport hall De Pijp
On Thursday there is open play, no membership is required. Several sports are accommodated like badminton, volleybal, tabletennis and of course pickleball! There will be 2 up to 3 pickleball courts available. Before, at 7 pm a fitnesstraining will be offered by a professional trainer. using the slogan ‘do whatever you can’ you can improve your shape.
This evening is hosted by Combiwel.

Finances
All the revenues from season passes, ticket strips and separate passes are used for the growth of pickleball in Amsterdam. The foundation Amsterdam Pickleball Players is solely run by volunteers. With the revenues the rent of locations is paid, materials are bought and five times a year a pickleball tournament is organized.
Payments can be made in cash, by app request or you can transfer it yourself. During the season it is still possible to buy a season pass, a discount for the time passed will be applied. Also it is possible to pay in terms.
